Overview
The Amazon DocumentDB Specialist will play a crucial role in building and operationalizing the Amazon DocumentDB platform, focusing on combining DBA and SRE responsibilities with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code using CDK in TypeScript. The contractor will establish standards for deployments and ensure the platform is set up for long-term maintenance within the DBA team, working fully from home during the contract duration.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the Amazon DocumentDB platform, including cluster architecture and configuration standards.
- Establish baseline templates for repeatable deployments.
- Implement automated backups, snapshot management, and scaling policies.
- Develop reusable CDK constructs in TypeScript for DocumentDB clusters and instances.
- Integrate existing IaC standards with a CDK-first approach.
- Lead the migration of workloads from MongoDB, defining and executing a data migration strategy.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Amazon DocumentDB and MongoDB migrations.
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code principles, particularly using CDK in TypeScript.
- Experience in designing distributed systems and cluster architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, security groups, and private subnets.
- Ability to implement automated backup and scaling policies.
- Demonstrated experience with snapshot management and data migration strategies.
