Overview
The Automation Architect will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of on-premise private cloud infrastructure automation solutions. This role involves bridging architectural design with hands-on implementation, focusing on efficient provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. The contractor will work collaboratively with development and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal deployment and management of environments hosting containers and traditional virtual machines.
Responsibilities
- Design and document the target state architecture for private cloud automation.
- Analyze and evaluate on-premise automation technologies and tools.
- Create detailed process flow diagrams and specifications for infrastructure deployment.
- Recommend and justify tools for CI/CD pipeline orchestration and IaC implementation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to teams on IaC and CI/CD best practices.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security policies, and deployment patterns.
- Maintain accountability for the delivery and functionality of automation solutions.
- Document all designs, process flows, test results, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in on-premise infrastructure, DevOps, or automation engineering.
- Deep expertise with at least one IaC tool (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong expertise in virtualization technologies for managing Virtual Machines and Container hosts.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure for container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Extensive experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Excellent analytical skills for problem-solving and process mapping.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
