Overview
As a BI Reporting Analyst, you will join a client project in the Energy & Utilities sector, focusing on understanding and documenting existing reporting systems rather than creating new ones. Your primary responsibility will be delivering a comprehensive inventory of the client's Power BI and Qlik reports, ensuring clarity for management and usability for stakeholders. This role requires interaction with business users to identify report needs, validate findings through feedback sessions, and support the wider project team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a comprehensive catalogue of the client's existing Power BI and Qlik reports and dashboards.
- Identify current and potential user groups for management information and reporting.
- Review the existing report estate, collaborating with report owners and users.
- Build a structured reporting catalogue detailing description, purpose, intended users, ownership, and access.
- Spot gaps, overlaps, duplication, and inactive reports within the current reporting environment.
- Create user-specific curated report lists to assist managers in identifying relevant information.
- Validate the reporting catalogue and curated lists with stakeholders, incorporating feedback received.
- Produce clear documentation with recommendations for maintaining the catalogue post-engagement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Power BI and Qlik reporting environments.
- Experience in reviewing and cataloguing reports, dashboards, and management information.
- Ability to work with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and decision-making requirements.
- Experience in identifying reporting gaps, duplication, and obsolete content.
- Proficiency in defining user groups and mapping reports to business functions.
- Experience facilitating validation sessions with managers and report owners.
- Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems would be advantageous.
- Additional experience in SQL Server and governance of report lifecycles is beneficial.
