Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and flexible Business Analyst / Consultant on a contract basis, with a focus on the utilities sector, particularly in energy, gas, and water software solutions. The ideal candidate will engage with internal and external stakeholders, balancing hands-on analysis with strategic consulting, and will be required to work hybrid, spending around two days a week in the office and the remaining time from home or on client sites across England.
Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand, analyse, and document business requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and requirements-gathering sessions across multiple business functions.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
- Produce high-quality business analysis artefacts, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), User Stories, Gap Analyses, and Impact Assessments.
- Analyse current and future-state business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the design and implementation of business and technology solutions.
- Assist with change management activities and business readiness planning.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives.
Requirements
- Experience within energy retail, distribution, transmission, water, or gas organisations.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and market frameworks.
- Experience with smart metering, customer transformation, billing, asset management, or operational systems.
- Familiarity with digital transformation, cloud migration, data, or system implementation projects.
- Relevant professional certifications such as BCS Business Analysis, CBAP, Agile BA, or Prince2.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
