Overview
The Civil Design Engineer will play a vital role in the design and delivery of both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects within the water sector. Working in a hybrid capacity, the contractor will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce and review civil engineering designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards while focusing on buildability, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Produce, review, and develop civil engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Prepare design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Support feasibility assessments and provide early-stage technical input.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and project delivery functions.
- Ensure designs prioritize buildability, cost efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
- Manage and coordinate design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support during construction, addressing design queries and responding to RFIs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methods and engineering processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Civil Design Engineer in the water, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
- Strong proficiency in civil design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage.
- In-depth understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines and pumping stations.
- Strong skills in technical reporting and drawing production.
- Experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Ability to work independently while proactively engaging with stakeholders.
