Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to join a major secure cloud transformation programme within the UK public sector. In this hybrid role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage resilient networking solutions for a Google Distributed Cloud environment, ensuring optimal performance for mission-critical services. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital national security initiatives while engaging with innovative technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement resilient cloud and hybrid network architectures.
  • Configure secure site-to-site connectivity, VPNs, and private interconnects.
  • Manage VPCs, routing, peering, and IP address management (IPAM).
  • Deploy and maintain load balancing and private DNS solutions.
  • Design and secure Kubernetes (GKE) networking, including network policies and Istio Service Mesh.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance using flow logs and observability tooling.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and supporting complex cloud or hybrid networking environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud networking concepts, including VPCs and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking (GKE) and service mesh technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work within secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Active SC Clearance is essential.
  • Experience delivering secure cloud infrastructure within government or defence environments is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab is a plus.
