Overview

The CODESYS Control System Engineer will play a key role in a machine communications upgrade project, primarily focused on upgrading the existing Hermes system. This remote position may require occasional visits to the Glasgow office, and involves refining functions, testing PLC code on live machines, and ensuring the system operates seamlessly. The role is set to begin as soon as possible and includes a straightforward interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Upgrade the existing Hermes system from version 1.0 to version 1.6 / 1.7.
  • Refine and enhance existing functionalities within the system.
  • Test PLC code on live machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.
  • Document changes and updates made to the system as necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with CODESYS.
  • Strong background in PLC programming and proficiency in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
  • Familiarity with HMI development using Android Java/XML is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting on real machines.
  • Knowledge of Hermes v1.6 or similar communication protocols is a plus.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Background in automation, mechatronics, or control systems is desirable.
