Overview

The Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing electrical commissioning activities for a significant gas power project in the UK. This hands-on position requires leadership of a team of engineers and technicians to ensure successful implementation and handover of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems. The contractor will collaborate closely with construction teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and adherence to safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute electrical commissioning activities through to project completion.
  • Commission transformers, HV/LV switchgear, protection systems, DC systems, rectifiers, and inverters.
  • Carry out testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation of electrical systems.
  • Complete commissioning documentation, test records, and handover packs.
  • Plan and execute LV isolations safely and compliantly.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Manage and lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians.
  • Attend and contribute to daily Plan of the Day meetings.

Requirements

  • Fully competent with Primary and Secondary Injection testing.
  • Experience configuring and testing HV protection schemes.
  • Previous experience leading commissioning teams on-site.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety and isolation procedures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
