Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Communications Manager to join a major transformation programme at a leading UK university on a contract basis. This role requires a proactive communicator who will collaborate with academic and professional services stakeholders to craft and deliver strategic communications that drive engagement and support organisational change. The position is primarily remote, requiring 2-3 days a week, with occasional meetings in London.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a cohesive communications strategy for the transformation programme.
- Prepare high-quality, university-wide communications including announcements, newsletters, and leadership updates.
- Manage multi-channel communications across platforms such as email, intranet, and town halls.
- Work with programme leads and change managers to identify communication needs and priorities.
- Build strong relationships within the university to ensure effective information flow.
- Maintain a forward-looking communications plan and coordinate messaging across projects.
- Monitor feedback and engagement to refine communication approaches.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Communications Manager in complex organisations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience creating communications for large, diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior leaders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
- Experience with organisational change or transformation programmes is desirable.
- Familiarity with higher education governance and communication channels is a plus.
