Overview
The Computer Vision Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands-on delivery for a major retail program focused on automating data capture using wearable camera technologies. This role requires a senior specialist who can guide a data science team as the subject-matter expert and own the technical solution from start to finish. The engineer will collaborate with various teams while ensuring that computer vision components are integrated seamlessly into the project.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Computer Vision Subject Matter Expert, owning the technical direction of the CV components.
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of video-based computer vision models.
- Combine traditional computer vision techniques with modern vision foundation models.
- Build and refine video processing pipelines for wearable camera footage.
- Implement object detection, tracking, spatial understanding, and scene interpretation.
- Ensure performance, accuracy, and robustness in complex retail environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of CV components.
Requirements
- Proven track record delivering multiple end-to-end computer vision projects.
- Deep expertise in traditional computer vision approaches.
- Strong experience with video-based computer vision.
- Experience with Spatial AI or scene understanding.
- Proficiency with Python and computer vision frameworks (OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
- Ability to operate autonomously in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Experience with Vision-Language Models (VLMs) is preferred but not essential.
