Overview
We are seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join a public sector organization for an initial 12-month contract, with potential for extension. This role focuses on managing and ensuring the security of digital services, collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to assess risks, and implementing best practices in cyber security standards. While based in Edinburgh, attendance at the project site will be required only on a need basis.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the current cyber threat landscape and industry best practices.
- Support initial scoping and risk assessment for change projects.
- Interpret security best practices to determine security requirements.
- Adapt cyber security standards to fit project-specific needs.
- Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments.
- Review designs drafted by solution architects for security compliance.
- Maintain security design assessments for new services.
- Coordinate and plan independent penetration testing.
Requirements
- Proven experience in security and risk assessment.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise-scale digital service provision.
- Recent contributions to the security of new digital services.
- Experience working in agile project teams with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to take ownership of security aspects from project start to finish.
- Capability to share knowledge and mentor colleagues.
- Desirable: Familiarity with MS Dynamics, Power Platform, and Azure.
- Desirable: Experience managing independent testing and relevant certifications such as MCSE or ITIL.
