Data Architect

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a major Bank's critical multi-year programme on an outside IR35 contract. In this senior, hands-on role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional architecture team to support the Enterprise Data Platform and other key data workstreams, focusing on data migration, integration, and governance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain conceptual and logical data models aligned to Bank standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Design data flow diagrams, interface specifications, and source-to-target mappings for complex migration and integration programmes.
  • Support legacy data warehouse migration to Azure and Databricks, including Unity Catalog implementation and Microsoft Purview governance integration.
  • Define data governance frameworks covering ownership, lineage, classification, quality, and master data management.
  • Document operational and analytical data service architectures.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across technology and business domains, managing workstreams with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and capability uplift for Bank staff.
  • Present at Architecture Review Boards and support cross-programme architecture governance as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Azure data platform (ADF, Synapse, ADLS).
  • Proficiency in Databricks, including Unity Catalog.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview for governance and lineage.
  • Skilled in conceptual and logical data modelling.
  • Ability to perform physical data modelling for cloud data warehouses.
  • Proficient in creating data flow diagrams and interface specifications.
  • Experience with source-to-target mapping in data migration processes.
  • Knowledge of legacy data warehouse migration from on-premises to Azure.
