Overview
We are seeking a Data Architect to design the data platform for a large UK organization undergoing significant transformation. In this role, you will be responsible for owning the target architecture as the company transitions from Oracle to Snowflake, collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure the design is both practical and visionary. This contract position presents an exciting opportunity to impact the migration strategy in a regulated, high-scale environment.
Responsibilities
- Design the target data architecture, including lakehouse and warehouse patterns.
- Own the migration strategy from Oracle to Snowflake, addressing risk and sequencing.
- Establish modelling conventions and governance for the data team.
- Collaborate with engineering leads and stakeholders to align design with operational realities.
- Advise on data flow and integration across the platform.
- Implement dimensional modelling standards for data architecture.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting scalable data platforms with a focus on Snowflake.
- Strong knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse design principles.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle to Snowflake migrations in regulated environments.
- Understanding of data lineage and governance practices.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering and its application in data design.
- Bonus: experience with dbt, AWS, and within financial services or asset finance sectors.
