Overview
We are seeking a Data Architect to lead the development of the data platform for a major UK organization undergoing a significant transformation. The role focuses on guiding the migration from Oracle to Snowflake, establishing data architecture standards, and working collaboratively with engineering teams to ensure practical, effective solutions are implemented in a regulated, high-scale environment.
Responsibilities
- Design the target data architecture, including lakehouse and warehouse patterns.
- Own the migration strategy from Oracle to Snowflake, ensuring effective sequencing and risk management.
- Establish modelling conventions and governance for the wider data team.
- Collaborate with engineering leads and stakeholders to align architecture with practical implementations.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting large-scale data platforms, particularly with Snowflake.
- Strong background in lakehouse and warehouse design, including dimensional modelling.
- Hands-on experience with migrations from Oracle to Snowflake.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments emphasizing data lineage and governance.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices and tools.
- Bonus: knowledge of dbt, AWS, and familiarity with financial services or asset finance.
