Overview
We are seeking a Data Architect to lead the transformation of a data platform for a large UK organisation moving from Oracle to Snowflake. In this pivotal role, you will design the target data architecture and set modelling conventions, ensuring the architecture aligns with the operational realities of engineering teams. Working closely with engineering leads and stakeholders, you will play a critical role in shaping how data flows across the platform and establishing a robust governance framework.
Responsibilities
- Design the target data architecture, including lakehouse and warehouse patterns.
- Own the migration strategy from Oracle to Snowflake, focusing on sequencing and risk management.
- Establish modelling conventions and governance standards for the data team.
- Collaborate with engineering leads and stakeholders to ensure practical implementation of designs.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with data lineage and governance requirements.
- Utilize AI tooling to enhance design and engineering processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting large-scale data platforms, specifically with Snowflake.
- In-depth knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse design along with dimensional modelling.
- Hands-on expertise in planning and executing Oracle to Snowflake migration projects.
- Experience working in regulated environments with a focus on data lineage and governance.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering methodologies and tools.
- Bonus: Experience with dbt, AWS, and knowledge of financial services or asset finance sectors.
