Overview
We are seeking a Data Architect on a contract basis to lead the design and implementation of a data platform transformation for a prominent UK organization. The contractor will focus on transitioning from Oracle to Snowflake while ensuring robust governance and architecture that supports both legacy and new systems. Collaboration with engineering teams and stakeholders will be essential to ensure alignment between design and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design the target data architecture including lakehouse and warehouse patterns and data flow methodologies.
- Own the migration strategy from Oracle to Snowflake, managing sequencing and risk factors.
- Establish coding and modeling standards for the wider data team.
- Collaborate with engineering leads and other stakeholders to ensure practical implementation of designs.
- Implement governance frameworks to maintain data lineage and compliance in a regulated environment.
- Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools in design and development processes.
- Monitor and review the architecture to align with organizational objectives and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience architecting large-scale data platforms, emphasizing Snowflake.
- In-depth knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse design along with dimensional modeling.
- Hands-on expertise in migrating data systems from Oracle to Snowflake.
- Experience working in regulated environments, particularly focusing on data governance and lineage.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering practices and tools.
- Preferred knowledge of dbt, AWS, and experience within financial services or asset finance sectors.
