Overview
As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining and leading the data architecture that supports hybrid naval capabilities, integrating various systems and digital services. You will work collaboratively with engineers, security teams, and operational stakeholders to establish standards for data management and ensure the architecture aligns with defense security requirements. This role emphasizes a balance between strategic design and hands-on technical leadership, contributing directly to operational success.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end data architecture for hybrid naval capabilities.
- Design secure, resilient, and scalable data platforms that encompass edge, tactical, and cloud environments.
- Establish architectural patterns for real-time data ingestion, streaming, and analytics.
- Lead the integration of sensor, platform, and mission data utilizing common data models and standards.
- Ensure data architecture compliance with defense security and interoperability requirements.
- Provide architectural governance and technical decision-making support.
- Mentor engineering teams to implement architectural best practices.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, translating operational needs into architectural solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Data Architect in complex, regulated, or mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and data integration techniques.
- Experience designing architectures for hybrid cloud and on-premise environments, preferably with AWS or Azure.
- Expertise in designing for high volume, time-critical, or sensor-driven data, including streaming and geospatial data.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership capabilities.
- Understanding of data security in high-security contexts, including encryption and identity management.
- Desirable experience working with UK defense clients or understanding NATO standards.
