Data Engineer

Overview

In this role as a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in delivering a data transformation project for a global enterprise client. Your work will involve enhancing business-critical data pipelines within a Talend and Oracle/DataStage environment, collaborating closely with technical teams, clients, and stakeholders to assess existing workflows and drive improvements. This position requires both technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders in a consultancy-driven setting.

Responsibilities

• Refactor and stabilise existing Talend ETL/data integration pipelines.
• Improve resilience and performance across Oracle and DataStage environments.
• Identify pipeline failures, bottlenecks, and areas of technical debt in legacy workflows.
• Support stakeholder discussions, translating technical issues into clear recommendations.
• Assist in testing, documentation, deployment, and handover of enhanced data processes.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Talend.
• Solid knowledge of Oracle and SQL.
• Familiarity with DataStage or similar enterprise ETL platforms.
• Experience in a consultancy role is preferred.
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders effectively in a complex environment.
