Overview
The Data Governance Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the governance and compliance framework for a government data-sharing platform. Working remotely, this position requires collaboration with business, technical, and security stakeholders to embed best practices within a complex digital transformation program. The contractor will be responsible for defining governance frameworks, establishing data standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant data protection legislation.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement governance frameworks and policies for data management.
- Establish data ownership and stewardship models to support compliance.
- Develop and enforce data standards within the organization.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with UK GDPR and data protection legislation.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to implement best practices.
- Facilitate workshops to engage stakeholders and promote governance initiatives.
- Advise on and implement attribute/policy-based access control models.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Data Governance within a commercial environment.
- Expertise in designing governance frameworks, policies, and operating models.
- In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and relevant government security standards.
- Experience with cross-organizational data sharing and metadata governance.
- Understanding of attribute/policy-based access control (ABAC/PBAC).
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
