The Data Governance Manager will lead the enterprise-wide Data Governance strategy for a prominent financial services organization. This senior role entails strengthening data stewardship, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating across departments to enhance data value and promote best practices in data management. The successful candidate will guide a team, establish frameworks, and champion the importance of data governance throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Data Governance strategy and roadmap.
  • Establish policies, standards, and frameworks that drive data quality and compliance.
  • Promote the importance of Data Governance to stakeholders.
  • Partner with teams to ensure clear definition and implementation of data requirements.
  • Enhance data management capabilities including metadata, data quality, and consent management.
  • Champion Data Governance tools and processes for better data asset management.
  • Provide oversight of regulatory data requirements such as Data Protection and Information Security.
  • Manage and develop a team of Data Quality Analysts.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Data Governance or Data Quality leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to design and implement Data Governance frameworks and policies.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience managing enterprise data assets in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Practical understanding of data lineage, metadata management, and data quality.
  • Exposure to Data Governance or cataloguing tools such as Microsoft Purview.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms like Azure, Data Lake, and SQL is desirable.
  • Certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, GDPR/Data Protection, or Agile methodologies are a plus.
