The Data Migration Project Lead will manage and execute a data migration project within the Insurance or Financial Services sector, leveraging specialist knowledge in data migrations, particularly from Policy Administration Systems. This hybrid role combines technical leadership with project management, requiring effective communication and collaboration with third-party system integrators and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical review of the existing data migration approach and tools, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the data migration quality assurance strategy and propose enhancements.
  • Maintain and update the risk and issue log related to data migration, ensuring it is reviewed weekly.
  • Develop and revise the migration workstream plan based on governance feedback and recommendations.
  • Produce weekly status reports for the Programme Director and other relevant stakeholders, including presentation slides for Steering Committee updates.
  • Create a detailed technical run book for the migration process, ensuring clarity for error-free execution and capturing outcomes for analysis.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for migration error handling and rollback options.
  • Oversee the data migration change request process, incorporating agreed changes into the project delivery plan and run book.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Migration Technical Lead within Insurance or Financial Services sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering large-scale data migration projects.
  • In-depth understanding of Policy Administration Systems (PAS) and similar data migration frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of interfacing with third-party integrators and client steering committees.
  • Experience in developing technical run books and migration strategies with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Ability to maintain and manage risk and issue logs effectively throughout the migration process.
  • Familiarity with data migration change request processes and tools.
