Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Officer (DPO) for an initial three-month contract role, offering hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on data protection and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with UK GDPR and other privacy regulations while interfacing with various business functions. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's data protection framework and supporting key initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Act as the organisation's Data Protection Officer, providing expert advice on UK GDPR and privacy legislation.
- Review, develop, and enhance data protection policies and governance frameworks.
- Advise stakeholders on privacy-by-design principles in projects and business initiatives.
- Conduct and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs).
- Manage and oversee data breach processes and regulatory reporting as needed.
- Provide guidance on data sharing agreements and third-party risk from a privacy perspective.
- Support responses to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and individual rights requests.
- Deliver privacy training and raise awareness across the organization.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) or Senior Data Privacy Consultant.
- Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
- Experience in developing and implementing privacy governance frameworks.
- Proficient in completing DPIAs and compliance reviews.
- Experience advising on third-party supplier risk and data processing agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, especially with senior leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
