Overview
The Database Administrator will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing AWS database services, focusing on Amazon RDS. This position is designed for an experienced professional with security clearance, who will work within a team to ensure database performance, security, and compliance in a complex environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize AWS database services, particularly Amazon RDS.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies.
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Support database migrations and upgrades within AWS environments.
- Ensure database security, availability, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues across production environments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to support ongoing delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, particularly Amazon RDS.
- Experience managing high-availability and mission-critical database environments.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Current active SC Clearance is essential.
- Experience working on government or public sector programmes is desirable.
- Experience with database migration and cloud transformation projects is a plus.
