Overview
The Design Systems Designer will play a pivotal role in shaping and evolving the design system, collaborating closely with the Head of UX Design, product managers, designers, and engineers. This contract position will focus on developing scalable components, creating and maintaining design documentation, and ensuring design consistency across various platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a strong attention to detail, negotiation skills, and a passion for inclusive and user-friendly design, all while championing accessibility and effective collaboration within the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the design system, collaborating with the team to ensure scalable components.
- Define design requirements while working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers.
- Create and maintain design guidelines, patterns, and component documentation in Figma and Zeroheight.
- Conduct systematic reviews of the design system to identify inconsistencies between design, documentation, and implementation.
- Make principled decisions regarding design elements and communicate changes to the team.
- Ensure seamless transitions between digital and physical customer experiences.
- Utilize AI-assisted design tools to enhance component production and validate outputs.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing and best practices within the design system team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Design System role.
- Proficiency in Figma, with experience building and maintaining design components.
- Strong understanding of design systems, UX methodologies, and the double diamond process.
- Experience in applying motion to UI at a production level.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies.
- Strong negotiation skills for integrating and implementing design systems.
- In-depth knowledge of design token architecture and AI-assisted workflows.
- Ability to communicate design decisions effectively to stakeholders and team members.
