Overview

The Principal Electrical Designer will engage in a 12-month contract to provide expert design input and technical support for energy asset management solutions. This role involves collaboration with project teams to enhance design deliverables and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards. The contractor will be responsible for key design activities within the oil and gas sector, focusing on modifications and procurement of electrical equipment while also participating in site surveys and design reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design input to project work scopes and estimates.
  • Participate in progress and planning meetings to provide updates and insights.
  • Produce technical deliverables related to modifications and new equipment purchases.
  • Conduct site surveys on offshore or onshore assets to gather data.
  • Ensure all design changes are documented through the change control process.
  • Produce necessary calculations and participate in design reviews.
  • Check and approve discipline documents and perform interdisciplinary checks as needed.
  • Support compliance with Asset Safety Case requirements and PFEER performance standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Designer in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong expertise in HV/LV switchgear, electrical drives, and power generation systems.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and produce technical calculations.
  • Familiarity with design review processes and documentation standards.
  • Experience in project estimation and planning in an engineering context.
  • Understanding of safety and performance standards relevant to electrical engineering.
