Overview
The Forward Deployed Engineer will play a critical role in delivering AI solutions for healthcare clients, focusing on the engineering rigor required for sensitive environments. Collaborating closely with delivery managers and client stakeholders, this position will involve the hands-on development of AI systems using AWS Bedrock and AgentCore, ensuring adherence to stringent governance requirements. The engineer will contribute to evaluating and optimizing AI performance while sharing knowledge within the team to enhance the overall delivery of AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build AI systems on AWS Bedrock and AgentCore, including RAG pipelines and production APIs.
- Develop secure back-end integrations that connect AI capabilities to client platforms.
- Design and run evaluation harnesses to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
- Engineer effective prompts and context strategies for production environments.
- Collaborate with delivery managers and architects to align AI solutions with client outcomes.
- Engage with client stakeholders to communicate technical decisions in an understandable manner.
- Document architecture decisions and share insights with the team.
- Maintain high engineering standards, ensuring thorough testing and documentation.
Requirements
- Solid back-end engineering foundation with readable and testable code.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Bedrock, including model invocation and deployment patterns.
- Experience with AWS AgentCore or equivalent orchestration tools for production use.
- In-depth understanding of large language models, including their failure modes and sensitivities.
- Proven experience building end-to-end RAG systems and retrieval tuning.
- Ability to build evaluation harnesses that measure quality and performance.
- Comfort in client-facing roles within regulated environments, with a focus on governance constraints.
- Experience with production agentic systems and AWS-specific design patterns is a plus.
