Overview
The Fractional Financial Controller will play a pivotal role within a VC-backed SaaS scale-up during a period of substantial change. Engaging in a part-time, hybrid work arrangement, the contractor will collaborate closely with the senior finance leader and commercial teams to enhance financial control, manage the month-end close process, and contribute to key financial reporting efforts within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close process and delivery of management accounts.
- Lead preparation for the annual audit and act as the key point of contact for auditors.
- Collaborate with the Head of Revenue Operations to enhance KPI reporting.
- Business partner with commercial stakeholders on conversion, CAC, and ARR analysis.
- Support the wider finance team in maintaining financial control processes during a transition.
- Address ad-hoc compliance and tax matters as required, including EMI compliance.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) required.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior Finance Manager in a scale-up or SME environment.
- Strong ownership of month-end close and management accounts with audit process experience.
- Commercially savvy with a solid understanding of subscription metrics (conversion rates, CAC, ARR).
- Self-starter capable of navigating ambiguity and working independently.
- Experience in SaaS, tech, or subscription-revenue businesses is desirable.
- Knowledge in FP&A or KPI reporting is a plus.
