Frontend Engineer

Overview

As a Frontend Engineer specializing in React, you will play a key role in developing a new web application for a rapidly growing AI startup focused on transforming food discovery. Collaborating closely with the hands-on Founder/CTO and a small team, you will take ownership of your work from concept to implementation, significantly influencing the product's development and technical direction. You will have the opportunity to shape both the user experience and the overall engineering team as the company scales its innovative platform.

Responsibilities

• Build a brand-new React web application from the ground up.
• Develop polished, responsive user experiences.
• Ship features from idea through to production.
• Work closely with the Founder/CTO on architecture and technical decisions.
• Take ownership of key areas of the product.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications.
• Contribute to backend development where appropriate.
• Help shape the future of both the product and engineering team.

Requirements

• 4+ years' commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong React and TypeScript experience.
• Experience building production web applications.
• A passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
• A proactive, self-sufficient approach.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Bonus: Backend experience with Node.js, Python or Ruby on Rails.
• Bonus: Experience with AI products, LLMs or AI-powered applications.
