Overview
We are seeking a Frontend Engineer with expertise in React and Next.js to develop accessible, high-quality customer-facing interfaces for a significant regulated organization in the UK. In this role, the contractor will collaborate closely with design teams to ensure performance and usability while maintaining high standards of web accessibility. This 3 to 6-month contract, which may be extended, will be hybrid, requiring occasional on-site work in London, Bristol, or Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
- Build accessible, high-quality interfaces using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Ship applications through Vercel and manage content with Contentful.
- Collaborate closely with design teams to ensure precise implementation.
- Ensure adherence to accessibility standards across all projects.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot in daily work.
- Focus on performance and usability beyond just feature delivery.
- Implement web accessibility guidelines (WCAG) in all developments.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Experience with Vercel and a headless CMS such as Contentful.
- Solid understanding of web accessibility best practices and WCAG standards.
- Demonstrated care for performance and usability in web applications.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.
- Experience in building applications for users with diverse access needs is a plus.
