Overview
We are seeking a Google Cloud Architect to join a specialist systems integrator delivering high-impact solutions for the UK Government. In this role, you will design and implement secure, scalable architectures using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and work alongside top engineering teams on a major transformation programme. The position requires a deep understanding of government security frameworks and an ability to mentor and lead cloud engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, scalable architectures in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
- Engineer solutions for disconnected and data-severed environments.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams for seamless delivery.
- Implement automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for efficient deployments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineering and DevSecOps teams.
- Align cloud designs with government security frameworks and enterprise architecture principles.
- Support ongoing optimisation and performance tuning across the programme lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or Senior Cloud Engineer with Google Cloud Platform specialization.
- Practical experience with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
- Background in air-gapped or non-internet-connected environments.
- Strong knowledge of IaC (Terraform, Deployment Manager) and CI/CD automation.
- Expertise in networking, IAM, containerisation (GKE/Kubernetes), and secure systems design.
- Ability to work within highly regulated or classified environments.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder interactions.
