Overview

The Grid Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Grid Code standards for a significant 400MW Battery Energy Storage System project. This position involves collaborating closely with project teams and the National Grid's Electricity System Operator (NESO) during various phases including design, modelling, commissioning, and operations to uphold regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Grid Code compliance studies related to voltage, reactive power, frequency response, and Fault Ride Through (FRT).
  • Develop and validate RMS (Root Mean Square) and EMT (Electromagnetic Transients) models.
  • Support transmission-level system studies and technical assessments.
  • Liaise with NESO for technical approvals and ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Oversee the commissioning process and conduct Grid Code witness testing.
  • Investigate Grid Code compliance issues and ensure adherence to UK regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Grid Code compliance for energy projects.
  • Expertise in RMS and EMT modelling as well as power system studies.
  • Familiarity with NESO processes and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with high voltage (HV) power systems, including commissioning and grid connection for battery energy storage systems (BESS) or generation.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
