Overview
We are seeking a Senior GUI / Human Factors Designer to take ownership of the user interface design for a safety-critical touchscreen platform within a medical device company. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team to create a production-ready design system and touchscreen interface that adheres to clinical safety standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful contributions that will impact the clinical environment directly over an initial 3-month contract period.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end GUI design for a safety-critical clinical touchscreen system.
- Design and build a scalable design system and component library in Figma.
- Develop high-fidelity interactive prototypes and overlay designs based on stakeholder feedback.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to align design decisions with hardware constraints.
- Contribute to usability planning and human factors documentation for regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Expert proficiency in Figma, including building scalable component libraries and interactive prototypes.
- Experience designing touchscreen interfaces in constrained environments.
- Knowledge of medical devices or equivalent safety-critical domains is essential.
- Experience building design systems from scratch and advancing them to production.
- Familiarity with human factors knowledge, particularly IEC 62366 usability engineering standards.
- Ability to operate independently and advise stakeholders on design decisions.
