Overview
The Indirect Procurement Strategy Specialist will play a vital role in leading strategic sourcing initiatives for a major procurement transformation project. This hands-on position requires collaboration with senior stakeholders across various regions to analyze spend data, develop cost-reduction strategies, and implement effective supplier management practices. The contractor will be instrumental in achieving significant cost savings while ensuring the global sourcing model is effectively executed within a decentralized organizational structure.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing projects using proven methodology.
- Analyze 12 months of spend data to support sourcing initiatives.
- Engage senior stakeholders to validate requirements and total cost of ownership drivers.
- Develop cost-reduction hypotheses and strategic sourcing strategies.
- Conduct supplier market analysis and manage RFP/RFx processes.
- Lead complex negotiations and manage contract awards, including KPIs and SLAs.
- Drive supplier consolidation efforts to streamline logistics and procurement processes.
- Report project progress through regular updates to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing and category management, specifically within indirect spend categories.
- Proven track record of delivering multi-million-pound savings in global or multi-regional contexts.
- Strong experience in logistics sourcing and potentially other indirect categories.
- Ability to operate in complex, decentralized environments with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced analytical skills, capable of working with limited data to build credible total cost of ownership cases.
- Familiarity with eSourcing tools, spend analytics, and contract management systems.
- Prior experience in interim roles or consultancy preferred.
- Exposure to ERP implementations and AI-enabled procurement tools is a plus.
