Overview
We are looking for an experienced Information Governance Lead to support a major Modern Work transformation programme within a notable university. This role involves providing strategic guidance and hands-on support for implementing information governance controls in Microsoft 365, while collaborating closely with various stakeholders including corporate governance teams and external Microsoft delivery partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead the information governance workstream within a large-scale Modern Work programme.
- Provide subject matter expertise on Microsoft Purview regarding Information Governance and Records Management.
- Review and enhance existing information governance policies, standards, and processes.
- Define and implement retention schedules and records management controls.
- Work with Microsoft implementation partners to ensure proper configuration and deployment of governance requirements.
- Support the design and implementation of Microsoft Purview governance capabilities.
- Assess current configurations and recommend improvements aligned with best practices.
- Engage with business and academic stakeholders to promote governance understanding and adoption.
Requirements
- Significant experience in Information Governance, Records Management, or Information Management leadership roles.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Purview implementations, focusing on information governance and compliance.
- Strong understanding of records management, retention policies, metadata standards, and information lifecycle management.
- Experience translating governance requirements into actionable policies and technical configurations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience in knowledge transfer, mentoring, and internal capability building.
- Desirable experience in Higher Education or Public Sector environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with compliance and governance capabilities in Microsoft 365 is preferred.
