Overview

The IT Field Engineer will provide essential support for first-line assurance activities in a 24/7 environment, primarily focusing on the installation and maintenance of network equipment and systems. This role requires a candidate who is adaptable and capable of working within contractual SLA targets, collaborating with technical teams to ensure network reliability and performance. The engineer will engage in troubleshooting and monitoring to support various communication technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and configuration of network equipment, including Commtel, SDH, PDH, and Radio systems.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and troubleshooting of networks and systems to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Support first-line assurance activities on a 24/7 basis, responding to incidents as they arise.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet agreed contractual SLA targets and resolutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to network infrastructure including LAN/WAN systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior engineers regarding installation procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in the installation and support of data communication systems, particularly DC Chargers.
  • Strong knowledge of PDH, SDH, Comtel, and Microwave radio technologies.
  • Familiarity with routing, switching, and data networking, specifically IP networking (WAN, LAN, MPLS).
  • Technical/professional qualifications in relevant engineering or networking areas.
  • Experience with Cisco and Alcatel products and technologies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including night and weekend shifts as required.
