Overview
The Infrastructure Engineer will join a technology consultancy specializing in secure UK government environments, focusing on enhancing monitoring capabilities across complex private cloud, multi-tenant hosting setups. This hybrid role involves working closely with infrastructure, security, and platform teams to improve operational visibility and service reliability in high-security contexts, leveraging the engineer's expertise in VMware, Splunk, and monitoring tools.
Responsibilities
- Enhance and deliver monitoring services across private cloud multi-tenant hosting platforms.
- Develop operational tooling and monitoring capabilities to improve service performance, reliability, and visibility.
- Design and manage system and network log collection, analysis, and monitoring platforms.
- Deploy and support Splunk-based monitoring, alerting, and analytics solutions.
- Implement application and infrastructure monitoring use cases.
- Provide 3rd line support and troubleshooting for monitoring platforms.
- Review existing monitoring services and recommend improvements and enhancements.
- Produce technical documentation and operational guidance.
Requirements
- Active SC Clearance (or eligibility to obtain).
- Strong experience working in secure or mission-critical environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
- Experience with VMware Aria Operations and VMware Aria Operations for Logs.
- Strong Splunk administration and monitoring experience.
- Experience working with Splunk Query Language (SPL).
- Log parsing using Regular Expressions (Regex).
- Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
