Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Manager to lead day-to-day infrastructure operations, ensuring secure and reliable services across both Microsoft cloud and on-premise environments. The successful candidate will oversee a team of Technical Engineers, coordinate third-party suppliers, and manage major incidents, acting as the senior technical escalation point. This hybrid role requires collaboration with the Head of Operations and engagement with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to provide operational updates and advice.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of four Technical Engineers.
- Own day-to-day infrastructure operations and service availability.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex issues.
- Coordinate major incidents and problem management.
- Oversee operational change, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
- Manage backup, recovery, and service continuity activities.
- Coordinate third-party suppliers including managed services and SOC providers.
- Support the transition of new services into live operation.
Requirements
- Several years leading infrastructure or IT operations teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Experience managing major incidents and technical escalations.
- Good understanding of ITIL service management practices.
- Experience managing suppliers and outsourced support partners.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Desirable: Microsoft certifications and experience within local government or the public sector.
