Overview
The Interim Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting a high-growth engineering business during an important phase of acquisition and expansion. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the contractor will manage the year-end audit process and ensure statutory reporting compliance across a complex group structure. This position is suited for a fully qualified accountant who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, working closely with multiple stakeholders to enhance financial governance and controls.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Group external audit process.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Manage audit deliverables and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Oversee the preparation and review of statutory accounts across multiple entities.
- Support group consolidation activities and address technical accounting matters.
- Drive improvements in financial controls, governance, and reporting processes.
- Partner with Finance Directors and Controllers to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial information.
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ICAS, ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong background in external audit, financial reporting, or group finance.
- Proven experience leading large-scale external audits.
- Excellent technical accounting and consolidation knowledge.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, acquisitive environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at a senior level.
