Overview

The Interim Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting a high-growth engineering business during an important phase of acquisition and expansion. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the contractor will manage the year-end audit process and ensure statutory reporting compliance across a complex group structure. This position is suited for a fully qualified accountant who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, working closely with multiple stakeholders to enhance financial governance and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Group external audit process.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Manage audit deliverables and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of statutory accounts across multiple entities.
  • Support group consolidation activities and address technical accounting matters.
  • Drive improvements in financial controls, governance, and reporting processes.
  • Partner with Finance Directors and Controllers to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial information.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ICAS, ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong background in external audit, financial reporting, or group finance.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale external audits.
  • Excellent technical accounting and consolidation knowledge.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, acquisitive environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at a senior level.
