Overview

The Interim Housing Repairs Consultant will work closely with a London Borough to stabilize its housing repairs service, providing hands-on leadership and operational oversight. This position focuses on ensuring continuity of service, performance recovery, and compliance while collaborating with senior stakeholders and operational teams to enhance service delivery and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the stabilisation of the repairs and maintenance service.
  • Provide oversight of the Direct Labour Workforce, focusing on scheduling and productivity.
  • Manage and improve delivery in responsive repairs and planned maintenance.
  • Diagnose root causes of service failures and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and health & safety requirements.
  • Strengthen service delivery processes and performance management.
  • Develop robust KPIs and operational controls.
  • Enhance customer experience through improved communication and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in local authority or social housing repairs at a senior level.
  • Strong background in managing Direct Labour Operations (DLO).
  • Solid understanding of M&E servicing and compliance.
  • Familiarity with damp & mould issues, with awareness of Awaab's Law being desirable.
  • Experience in turnaround or service recovery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with analytical abilities for performance improvement.
