Overview
We are seeking an Interim PMO Build Lead for a 6-month contract to help establish a lightweight and scalable PMO function within a rapidly growing tech company. This remote-first role involves collaborating with the COO and leadership team to simplify project management processes and enhance delivery capabilities across Product, Technology, Operations, and Business functions. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience to assess current practices, introduce practical governance standards, and foster an environment of clarity and consistency without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Responsibilities
- Assess current project planning and reporting practices, simplifying and standardising where necessary.
- Design and implement a lightweight PMO operating model that facilitates consistent delivery.
- Establish planning, reporting, and governance standards that are practical and usable by teams.
- Create project and portfolio visibility for leadership, showcasing progress and priorities.
- Support prioritisation and cross-functional dependency management among teams.
- Coach Project Managers and delivery leads to embed consistent ways of working.
- Define the future PMO structure and operating model to align with business growth.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding permanent delivery leadership as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in establishing or transforming PMO functions.
- Strong programme delivery experience in scaling or fast-moving environments.
- Ability to simplify delivery structures and eliminate unnecessary processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across various teams.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building capability from scratch.
- Practical and delivery-focused mindset with hands-on experience.
- History of implementing lightweight governance frameworks in tech startups.
- Successful transition experience from reactive delivery to structured execution.
