Overview
The Junior Software Developer will engage in various web and backend projects as part of an Agile team, contributing to live code while collaborating with senior developers for guidance and mentorship. This remote contract position is designed for an individual with a few years of commercial experience in JavaScript, and it emphasizes responsibility and continuous learning in a dynamic environment focused on infrastructure software.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain production code using Node.js and React.
- Write unit and integration tests with Jest.
- Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Troubleshoot and optimize code, including for SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Conduct peer reviews and uphold coding standards.
- Develop and utilize REST APIs.
- Manage GitHub version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Document code changes and technical decisions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial experience with JavaScript (Node.js & React).
- Strong proficiency with Git and Jira.
- Understanding of REST APIs and asynchronous patterns.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and quality practices.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Must hold a UK passport and reside in the UK permanently.
