Overview
The Lead Cost Estimator will play a pivotal role in developing cost estimates for capital projects in the energy and process industries. Working closely with a diverse team, this contractor will focus on delivering accurate AACEI Class 3, 4, and 5 CAPEX and ABEX estimates while engaging with clients and project teams across various global locations. The position requires a proactive approach to estimating and collaboration, contributing to successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop AACEI Class 3, 4 & 5 CAPEX and/or ABEX estimates against tight budgets and timeframes.
- Perform detailed estimating of labour, costs, quantities, and scope for early project development phases.
- Develop comprehensive estimating scopes, ensuring all concept differences are captured and estimates are assured.
- Analyze bulk material quantities alongside infrastructure, modularisation, and direct site labour considerations.
- Interact with engineering and design team members across locations to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Present and discuss cost estimates with clients to instill confidence in the work conducted.
- Maintain cost and benchmarking databases, updating them with the latest costs and quotes.
- Facilitate internal and external estimate reviews with management, clients, and project teams.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in EPC estimating practices and methods.
- Proficiency in estimating for brownfield modifications and capital projects during FEED and Detail Design phases.
- Strong understanding of engineering, project management, and construction management concepts.
- Ability to create bottom-up cost estimates independently using historical data and internal databases.
- Knowledge of construction and installation methods to develop detailed EPC costs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills suitable for professional interactions.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent relevant industry experience is preferred.
