Overview
The Lifting Engineer will manage and oversee lifting operations, ensuring they are effectively designed, planned, and executed according to industry standards and regulations. Collaborating with project managers, crane operators, and other teams, the Engineer will provide technical expertise throughout lifting activities, emphasizing safety and compliance while conducting risk assessments and equipment evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review lifting plans, procedures, and method statements.
- Calculate load weights, centres of gravity, and sling tensions.
- Assess and approve the selection of lifting equipment.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards for lifting operations.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections before lifting activities.
- Provide technical support to crane operators and lifting supervisors.
- Investigate lifting incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to lifting operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in heavy lift engineering and rigging design.
- Experience with offshore crane and vessel operations.
- Thorough knowledge of UK offshore legislation and lifting standards.
- Relevant lifting and rigging certifications (e.g., LOLER, LEEA, OPITO).
- Extensive experience in offshore oil and gas decommissioning projects.
- Familiarity with offshore lifting standards and safety management.
