Overview
The Marketing Strategist will work on a fractional basis, contributing approximately two days per week to help a growing specialist professional services firm enhance its marketing capabilities. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the company's long-term business objectives, while also providing hands-on support in establishing a robust marketing function. The strategist will engage with senior leadership to drive growth, refine market positioning, and strengthen various marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Review and challenge the current marketing approach and commercial strategy.
- Develop a practical 12–24 month marketing strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Refine market positioning, messaging, and value proposition across key target sectors.
- Develop effective go-to-market strategies for services, products, and advisory offerings.
- Strengthen the organisation’s website, content, collateral, and thought leadership programme.
- Recommend an optimal mix of referrals, partnerships, events, and digital marketing.
- Implement marketing KPIs, planning processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Manage and coordinate external agencies and specialist partners as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing Director, Chief Growth Officer, or Fractional CMO.
- Strong marketing leadership experience within professional services, consultancy, or B2B sectors.
- Track record of supporting growth in founder-led or scaling organisations.
- Experience developing marketing functions and commercial strategies.
- Strong understanding of thought leadership and relationship-driven growth.
- Commercially minded with the ability to operate at strategic and operational levels.
- Experience collaborating with founders, business owners, or senior leadership teams.
- Pragmatic, hands-on approach with excellent stakeholder management skills.
