Overview
The Materials Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the development of advanced turbomachinery products within an innovative engineering organization. Working primarily in a hybrid environment, the engineer will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure that material selections meet stringent requirements and contribute to cutting-edge technology advancements.
Responsibilities
- Select, characterise, test, and qualify materials for mechanical, thermal, and lifing requirements.
- Support product design by providing materials expertise and contributing to design studies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimize manufacturing techniques such as heat treatment and coatings.
- Validate manufacturing methods and troubleshoot material-related issues.
- Prepare technical reports and specifications for materials testing and inspection.
- Contribute to the development of materials for next-generation components.
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience in materials engineering within a relevant industry.
- Strong technical knowledge, preferably with turbomachinery experience.
- Proven problem-solving skills with a cross-functional approach.
- Flexible and proactive, adept at working beyond traditional materials engineering scopes.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a self-starter attitude.
