The Materials Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the development of advanced turbomachinery products within an innovative engineering organization. Working primarily in a hybrid environment, the engineer will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure that material selections meet stringent requirements and contribute to cutting-edge technology advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Select, characterise, test, and qualify materials for mechanical, thermal, and lifing requirements.
  • Support product design by providing materials expertise and contributing to design studies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize manufacturing techniques such as heat treatment and coatings.
  • Validate manufacturing methods and troubleshoot material-related issues.
  • Prepare technical reports and specifications for materials testing and inspection.
  • Contribute to the development of materials for next-generation components.

Requirements

  • Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant experience in materials engineering within a relevant industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge, preferably with turbomachinery experience.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a cross-functional approach.
  • Flexible and proactive, adept at working beyond traditional materials engineering scopes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a self-starter attitude.
