Overview
A Materials Engineer is needed to support the development of advanced turbomachinery products in a hybrid contract role. The contractor will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including suppliers and product design groups, to ensure material selection and testing meet necessary specifications while working in a dynamic environment that values innovation and proactive problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Select, characterise, test, and qualify materials based on mechanical, thermal, and lifing requirements.
- Support product design by providing materials expertise and contributing to design studies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimise manufacturing techniques such as heat treatment and coatings.
- Validate manufacturing methods and address any material-related anomalies.
- Prepare and maintain technical reports and specifications for materials testing and inspection.
- Contribute to the development of materials for next-generation components.
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in materials engineering within a relevant industry.
- Strong technical knowledge, ideally in turbomachinery.
- Proven capacity for problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
- Flexible and proactive with a willingness to work beyond traditional materials engineering roles.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
