Overview

The Network Engineer role will focus on managing critical network migration and upgrade projects within a public sector organization, emphasizing SDWAN and VPN solutions. The successful candidates will collaborate with various teams to enhance network design and ensure compliance with strategic business objectives. This position offers opportunities for ongoing projects and improvements in network systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Consult in the delivery of design and strategy for managing a large multi-site network including SDWAN, WiFi, and LAN projects.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice on networking and infrastructure design.
  • Represent the networks team at internal and external meetings related to the change programme.
  • Consult on the overall network roadmap aligning with the business plan.
  • Provide technical design consultation to network security teams.
  • Advise on best practices to improve existing systems and services.
  • Attend networking events to identify and share best practice methods.
  • Ensure timely provision of required collateral by Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Cisco equipment including 2960X/XR, 4500, 9000 series, and Nexus switches, supported by a relevant certification.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting physical network infrastructure.
  • Experience in building and maintaining high availability networks with Cisco devices.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Networking, Unified Communications, WLC, F5 VPN, IPsec tunnels, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Experience in implementing network monitoring solutions and designing load balancing services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with IT and operational colleagues.
