Overview
The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in managing and supporting Wi-Fi upgrade and refresh activities across multiple sites in Scotland. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with IT teams, contractors, and operational stakeholders while traveling to various locations. This position focuses on ensuring effective wireless networking solutions and enhancing the overall Wi-Fi infrastructure within complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support Wi-Fi upgrade and refresh activities across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with IT teams, contractors, and operational stakeholders.
- Support the deployment and configuration of wireless systems and access points.
- Identify and document existing Wi-Fi infrastructure within complex environments.
- Trace cabling from comms rooms to access point locations.
- Maintain accurate records of installed and replaced access points.
- Generate heat maps to assess wireless coverage and performance.
- Work with installation contractors to survey and document installations.
Requirements
- Experience working with enterprise Wi-Fi environments and access points.
- Strong understanding of wireless networking concepts and infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Wi-Fi deployments and upgrade projects.
- Ability to carry out site surveys and validate wireless installations.
- Understanding of how LAN infrastructure supports Wi-Fi delivery.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Experience managing multiple site-based activities and working with stakeholders.
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments is beneficial.
