Overview
The Network Technical Specialist will play a crucial role in the Technical Services Team, focusing on the remediation and standardization of Operational Technology (OT) firewall environments across various factory sites. This contract position requires hands-on expertise and collaboration with the Technical Support Manager to ensure that firewall configurations align with security best practices. The role involves frequent travel between sites as part of a hybrid working arrangement, primarily based on-site for two to three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Review factory-based firewall configurations and identify risks and audit gaps.
- Remove or remediate unused policies and permissive rules.
- Ensure firewall rules align with least privilege principles.
- Implement standard firewall rule sets across all sites.
- Correct rule ordering and eliminate inconsistent configurations.
- Define and maintain reusable policy blocks for future deployments.
- Support the migration of OT networks to a standardized architecture.
- Deploy and configure detection and monitoring rules for improved network visibility.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Fortinet / Fortigate firewalls.
- Expertise in firewall policy design, auditing, and optimization.
- Experience with network segmentation, VLANs, and VRF concepts.
- Familiarity with OT or hybrid IT/OT environments.
- Proficiency with firewall management tools, such as FortiManager.
- Proven ability to deliver audit remediation and security improvement programs.
- Ability to work across multiple sites and complex environments.
- Relevant experience in roles such as Lead OT Network Security Engineer or Senior Infrastructure Engineer is preferred.
